Visualize this! Game Programming Gems 8 – Application of quasi fluid dynamics for arbitrary closed meshes

Welcome to another episode of Visualize this! the show where we talk about game development.

My guest is Krzysztof Mieloszyk one of the authors of Game Programming Gems 8th edition. Krzysztof is a professor at the Gdansk University of Technology and spoke with me about application of quasi fluid dynamics for arbitrary closed meshes. This is the fourth interview in a series I am going to run speaking with some of the authors of this book about their areas of expertise and their experience with contributing to this book.

Questions :

1. Tell us about your background and your role in the book Game programming gems
2. Why is physics important to game developers?
3. Are there different factors to consider while simulating fire, fluids etc?
4. What are the requirements for the mesh representing the object?
5. What are some factors to consider for pressure distribution calculation on a mesh? (talk about calculating distance to medium boundary, calculating the point velocity, morphing shape objects, and triangle clipping)
6. How do you recommend correcting dynamic pressure?
